Recipient of the Social Products Award 2020 Lifestyle Jury Prize

2020.3.18

The FOOD TEXTILE project has been honored with the "Lifestyle Jury Award" under the open theme of "Products and Services that Enable Consumers to Participate in Building a Sustainable Society" at the Social Products Award 2020.

Social products refer to tangible and intangible items (products and services) created by companies and other organizations with consideration not only for consumers but also for society. These products contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and enable consumers to participate in creating a better society (social contribution). The Social Products Award is Japan's first award system that highlights outstanding "social products" contributing to a sustainable society, evaluating both their social and product value. The award was established in 2012 and is now in its 7th edition.

The "Lifestyle Jury Award" received by the FOOD TEXTILE project was determined by 20 consumer jurors selected through an open call. These jurors evaluated the products based on their social and product value after seeing them in person. The project was recognized for its collaboration with over 15 domestic food-related companies, agricultural organizations, and farms, transcending industry boundaries to address food waste issues from the fashion industry. Additionally, the project was praised for its beautiful, natural color tones and innovative dyeing techniques that ensure durability, which have been widely accepted by many apparel brands and consumers.
