FOOD TEXTILE has been adopted in the
“JAPAN COLLECTION,” which combines Japanese craftsmanship and sustainability
2026.01.20
FOOD TEXTILE has been adopted in THE NORTH FACE’s “JAPAN COLLECTION,” to be launched for the Spring/Summer 2026 season.
The “JAPAN COLLECTION” features items that reconstruct, from THE NORTH FACE’s perspective, Japan’s unique culture and techniques, artists, and efforts toward material development for a circular society.
In the three series being introduced this time—“Sashiko,” “Drift Dye,” and “Nature Dyed PERTEX”—the products embody the values that THE NORTH FACE aims to realize in future craftsmanship, going beyond a simple expression of “Japanese-ness” to include material development, production background, and functionality.
Within these series, FOOD TEXTILE has carried out dyeing for the “Drift Dye” series using red radish, ginger, and swertia japonica.
The material used is “UpDRIFT,” a recycled polyester made from PET bottles and other waste collected from coastlines, resulting in a circular product that balances reduced environmental impact with the unique hues achievable only through natural dyes.
